A web-based utility that converts your voice into MIDI notes in real-time, correcting your pitch to a chosen musical key and scale. Voicetrack is a minimalist yet powerful music production tool that transforms your voice into a MIDI controller. Designed for producers, musicians, and experimenters, this application listens to your vocal input, intelligently detects its pitch, and corrects it to the nearest note within your selected musical scale. The corrected note is then sent out as a standard MIDI signal. This allows you to play synthesizers, trigger samples in your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), or control any MIDI-compatible hardware or software simply by singing or humming. The interface provides essential controls to set the Root Note and Scale (Major, Minor, Pentatonic, etc.), ensuring your vocal performance always stays perfectly in key. With an integrated piano display that visualizes the detected note and highlights the current scale, plus a real-time volume meter, Voicetrack offers instant visual feedback for a seamless creative workflow. How It Works Voicetrack simplifies the process of converting vocal ideas into musical data with a straightforward workflow: Configuration: The user first selects their desired musical key by choosing a Root Note and a Scale from the dropdown menus. MIDI Output: They then select an available MIDI output device from the list. The application uses the Web MIDI API to automatically detect connected hardware synths, virtual MIDI ports, or DAW inputs. Start Listening: Pressing the "Start" button activates the microphone. The browser will ask for permission to access the mic if it's the first time. Real-Time Analysis: The application uses the Web Audio API to continuously analyze the incoming audio stream. It calculates the fundamental frequency of the user's voice to determine its pitch. Pitch Correction & MIDI Conversion: The detected pitch is instantly "corrected" or snapped to the nearest note within the user-defined scale. This corrected note is then converted into a MIDI "Note On" message. When the user stops singing, a "Note Off" message is sent. Visualization and Output: The corrected note is displayed on the screen and highlighted on the virtual piano. Simultaneously, the MIDI message is sent to the selected output, playing the note on the connected instrument or software.
