More than a simple piece of furniture, the Dialogue Chair is a physical investigation into form, connection, and duality. Conceived through parametric design, its structure is both complex and elegantly simple, appearing to change its nature depending on the viewer's perspective. A Duality of Form From the side, the chair presents an unbroken, fluid silhouette. Its ribbon-like profile flows seamlessly from the base, through the ergonomic curve of the seat, and up into a supportive backrest, suggesting motion and organic growth. However, when viewed from the front, this singular form reveals its true purpose: a central divide cleaves the structure into two distinct but symmetrical seating zones. This is the "dialogue"—a shared space that invites two people to sit not just side-by-side, but within a form that subtly encourages intimacy and connection. Rhythmic Materiality The chair's body is composed of parallel ribs of laminated wood, arranged like the vertebrae of a spine or the topographical lines of a landscape. This "slicing" technique creates a powerful visual rhythm, allowing the piece to feel both massive and permeable at the same time. The spaces between the slices capture light and create deep shadows, giving the chair a dynamic presence that shifts throughout the day. The warmth and organic grain of the wood stand in stark contrast to a minimalist or brutalist environment, highlighting its sculptural qualities. A Space for Connection As a functional object, the Dialogue Chair is designed for versatility. For a single person, it offers an enveloping and comfortable seat for contemplation. For a pair, it becomes a unique setting for conversation, its mirrored curves creating a sense of a shared, intimate world. It is a statement piece that balances digital precision with natural warmth, designed not just for seating, but for interaction.
